We collect data in three distinct categories. It is vital to distinguish between your private business data and public market data.

A. Merchant Account Information

  • Registration Data: Name, email address, company name, and password.
  • Billing Information: Payment method details (processed via our third-party provider, Stripe; we do not store raw credit card numbers).

B. Connected Commerce Data (Your Proprietary Data)

When you connect your store (e.g., Shopify, Amazon Seller Central) or ad accounts (e.g., Meta Ads, TikTok Ads) to Volus, we collect:

  • Transactional Data: Historical sales, order volume, and SKU-level performance.
  • Inventory Data: Stock levels, lead times, and supplier details.
  • Advertising Data: Ad spend, ROAS, and campaign performance metrics.

Our Promise on Proprietary Data: We process this data strictly to generate insights for you. We do not sell your specific sales data to third parties or competitors.

C. Public Market & Social Data (Sentiment Analysis)

To provide our "Social Sentiment" features, we may collect publicly available data from third-party platforms (such as TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit). This includes:

  • Public Content: Comments, hashtags, captions, and engagement metrics (likes/shares) related to specific products or trends.
  • No Private Scraping: We do not access private profiles, direct messages, or content behind login walls without authorization.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to power the "Action Layer" of e-commerce.

  • Service Delivery: To provide demand forecasts and inventory recommendations specific to your store.
  • Sentiment Analysis: To analyze public social signals and provide aggregated sentiment scores for products.
  • AI Model Improvement: We use aggregated and anonymized data to train and refine our AI models (e.g., "General seasonal trends in the Fashion category," not "Your specific Q4 revenue").
  • Communication: To send you alerts (e.g., "Stockout Risk Detected") and product updates.

4. AI and Automated Decision Making

Volus utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to provide recommendations.

Human-in-the-Loop

While our AI suggests actions (e.g., "Increase Ad Spend"), the final decision to execute these actions typically remains with the Merchant, unless you have enabled "Auto-Pilot" features.

Data Provenance

We strive to ensure our models are trained on accurate, representative data to minimize bias in sourcing and demand predictions.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in limited circumstances.

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party vendors who assist in our operations (e.g., Cloud hosting via AWS/Google Cloud, AI processing via OpenAI/Anthropic, payment processing). These vendors are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Compliance: If required by law, regulation, or legal process (e.g., a subpoena).
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, sale of assets, or financing.

We employ enterprise-grade security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), to protect your proprietary data.

Data Location

Your data is primarily stored and processed in servers located in the United States and Europe.

Retention

We retain your Connected Commerce Data only as long as you maintain an active account. Upon cancellation, you may request the deletion of your historical data.

Depending on your location, you may have specific rights regarding your data.

You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.

Right to Deletion

You can request that we delete your account and associated proprietary data.

Right to Opt-Out

You may opt out of having your anonymized data used for general model training by contacting support.

8. International Data Transfers

Volus operates globally. If you are accessing our services from the European Economic Area (EEA) or other regions with laws governing data collection, please note that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries that may not offer the same level of protection.

We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and strict data processing agreements to ensure your data remains protected during these transfers.
